E. Moo Young's Abstract Art Flyer #2

I've been compiling some of my artworks in the form of a flyer to show how I've been creating and evolving. The works include paintings, mixed media collage, drawings and experimentations with digital fusions.
I'm reminded of an observation on Paul Klee- he worked as if no art existed before and he started from scratch, making the work 'render visible'. That is, the work is in the paper and he had to work to bring it out, to make it visible. So I'm always excited by what is to come each time I approach the paper and start working. What new form, technique or meaning can I bring in to existence. The approach is quite different each time and the results are, I think, unique.

Above are some of my output.

Your comments are important.

Abstract art- "Germinate"

Is there anything tougher than a tamarind seed? This hard protective coating would need a sturdy hammer to crack open. Yet, when conditions become favorable, they soften and soon a delicate young shoot emerges. They process is repeated in so many other seeds, preceding germination. Ideas, too, need time to percolate. To be stimulated, then burst forth and emerge. It's a force of nature, defying simple scientific definition.

The abstract painting- "Germinate" merely allude to this phenomenon. Organically evolving on the paper, bounded by flowing lines, a section exceeds the boundary and emerges from the compartment. Is it, like a seed of corn, emerging in a time preceding drought, doomed to wither and die? Or are there gray clouds looming in the distance, signaling stormy conditions, rain and then prosperity? Painted in acrylics and flowing lines, the answer is to be seen.

Portals reduced to abstraction

Digital abstract art experiments, usually start with a digital photo. Then it's attacked, digitally, and many 'painterly' transformation starts to take place. Employing various techniques opens many new possibilities, dark colours, replaced by bright colors and the work begins an improvisational dance. A flattening of form. The work becomes less visibly representational and increasingly abstract. A juggling of elements. The unusual emerges, a new entity is released, Sometimes, it's the start of a new kind of exploration. A series seem like the only solution, so that the theme can be fully studied.

In this transformation of an interior, the whole scene is relentlessly reduced to colored diagonal lines. Dark, brooding lines, aside bright ones, an interplay of unusual colors. What lies ahead? This abstract digital experiment is titled "Elph portals." More abstract digital art can be seen at yessy.com/emooyoung.
